Avoid waxing & electrolysis in the area.
Avoid tanning in a bed or outside, as well as spray tans / self tanner
Have a clear idea of the design and placement of your tattoo.
Exfoliate & moisturize: make sure the area you’re getting tattooed is hydrated and free of dead/dry skin.

Limit alcohol, caffeine and sugar before procedure as they can increase sensitivity
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen, or any other blood thinner for 24 hours before procedure. Tylenol is ok.
Hydrate well and drink plenty of water.

Hydrate and eat a balanced meal before your appointment! This helps your pain tolerance and overall comfort level as well as regulating blood sugar.
Get plenty of sleep the night before.
Wear appropriate clothing: loose, dark clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area.
Arrive freshly showered with clean, dry skin. No lotions, oils, or makeup on the tattoo area. If necessary, gently shave the area or let your artist handle it at the appointment.
Please bring your photo ID to your appointment for consent forms.
For a relaxing appointment, bring headphones, a book, or music. For longer sessions you may want to bring a light snack.
Arrive on time and be prepared to communicate your vision for the tattoo: placement, size, etc.

If you did not receive a bandage on your tattoo, please wash 4-5 hours after with a mild unscented soap like Dial, followed by a very thin layer of Aquaphor.

Remove the bandage when it starts to peel up close to the tattooed area, if the barrier is broken / torn, or after 3-5 days. Remove the clear bandage in shower under running lukewarm water. Pull from a bottom corner downward, like a command strip. Don’t remove by pulling directly away from the skin.
Wash gently following bandage removal with a mild, unscented soap. Antibacterial Dial works well. Apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor after washing.

Wash gently 2x daily until peeling is done with unscented mild soap, antibacterial Dial works well.
Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor 2-3x daily for up to 2 weeks.
A mild unscented lotion can be used after 2 weeks to hydrate if skin is dry.
Avoid heavy sweating/exercise, long steamy showers, sun and tanning for 7 days.
Avoid hot tubs, lakes, pools, ocean etc. for at least 2-3 weeks following your appointment.
Avoid using harsh products/chemicals/exfoliants in the area.
Hydrate well and drink plenty of water.

Book a touch up after 4 weeks if needed. Text Madeline at 608-571-2968 with pictures of your tattoo and your full name to book.
Always wear SPF on your tattoo to prevent fading.
